ABOUT ME

I started Barry Sigler Inspections LLC in 2005. As a Canton, Ohio based home inspector, I am committed to providing as much unbiased accurate information about the condition of the home that you are buying, or perhaps selling, that I possibly can. I am licensed in Ohio and inspect in an area that covers roughly, a 60 mile radius surrounding North Canton, which includes Akron, Canton, Massillon, Canal Fulton, Kent, Stow, Cuyahoga Falls, Dover, New Philadelphia, Minerva, Malvern, and many more cities in Stark, Summit, and the surrounding counties. I take photos and produce a detailed computerized report. I was born into a long line of a Home Building family. There is nothing like the smell of sawdust in the morning, and the sound of circular saws. I will inspect for you, just as I will for my family members. I have been honored when Realtors refer my services to family members and friends. Since I was a toddler, I have experienced every stage of home production over the years. I know how a house is supposed to be built, and I recognize problems when I see them. I realize that construction experience alone does not make a good home inspector. This is why I have undertaken extensive and ongoing training. I am certified by CICPI (Center for International Certification Programs, Inc), and achieved the Certified Inspector level with ASHI (American Society of Home Inspectors). I hold three licenses in Ohio: Home Inspection, Radon Tester, and Wood Destroying Insect Inspector. I have ongoing education requirements to maintain those licenses. I strive to continually learn more every day, and I most often do. When a person thinks they know it all, they tend to be overconfident and make mistakes. My learning process will never be finished. Every house has similarities, but many have differences. I am an affiliate member of the Stark Trumbull Association of Realtors and serve on the Affiliate Committee. I am not only an ASHI member with certified inspector status; I belong to the North Central Ohio Chapter of ASHI (American Society of Home Inspectors) and am a past member of the Ohio Chapter of ASHI. I have been an affiliate member of the Women's Council of Realtors, a member of the now defunct Jackson Chamber of Commerce, and have been a member of the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce. I was a Boy Scout, and until recently, have volunteered many years as an adult Scouter in the Boy Scouts of America. I have earned an eighth degree black belt with the Yee Chong Mu International organization, and have taught those arts for no monetary compensation, just to give back to the community.

My Mission

My mission is to provide a thorough, unbiased assessment of the conditions of a house using my knowledge, experience, and method while onsite performing a home inspection, as well as, many hours reviewing photos and formulating a quality report to give my clients as much information as possible, so they can have peace of mind when moving forward with their transaction. A home inspection is also an opportunity for a buyer to learn important things about the house.

Radon

I am licensed in Ohio to test for Radon in homes. It is an add on service. Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that exists in varying quantities pretty much everywhere deep within the earth, starting out as uranium and changing forms as it passes through rock, soil, and concrete along it’s journey to the house. The highest level is generally in the lowest level of the home, but Radon exists in all levels of the home. Radon levels fluctuate to some degree. The average level in a two or three day test determines the need to remediate. Radon mitigation is recommended with results at 4 picacurries and above, by the Ohio Department of Health and the Environmental Protection Agency. Radon mitigation requires a license for Radon mitigation. I do not install Radon Mitigation Systems. Radon is reported to be the second leading cause of lung cancer deaths in the United States, with smoking being the leading cause. Due to varying factors, the only way to know the Radon level in a home is to test. I use a Radalink continuous monitor. Closed house conditions need to be in effect during, and twelve hours prior to the start of the test. Contact me for more information.

Wood Destroying Insect Inspection

I am licensed in Ohio to inspect for wood destroying insects. It is an add on service. In my opinion, hiring a home inspector that is also performing a wood destroying insect inspection while also performing a home inspection, is a good idea, because the home inspector is most often, entering attic spaces. Wood Destroying Insect inspectors are not required to enter an attic, unless it has permanent stairs. A thorough home inspector is at the house much longer than a wood destroying insect inspector, and because of that, likely has a better chance of discovering evidence of any wood destroying insects.
